How it works

 

The Kalixa Card can be used anywhere around the world that accepts MasterCard® – online or on the high street. Kalixa is a pay-as-you-go MasterCard, but to the retailer there is absolutely no difference between a Kalixa Card and any other MasterCard-branded credit or debit card – it functions in exactly the same way and is always welcomed.

Instead of extending a line of credit or accessing a bank account, the Kalixa Card draws funds from its associated eAccount, otherwise known as an e-wallet or e-money account.

The eAccount can be loaded with funds by anyone, anywhere, anytime.

Using Kalixa in your company

Your cash flow will only be affected by the total amount that you have loaded onto your employees' Kalixa eAccounts.

With Kalixa, you have complete financial control because an employee cannot spend more than you load onto their eAccount. Carefully consider an individual’s requirements and only load up to a level at which you feel comfortable. If an employee needs additional funds and you approve their request, additional funds can be loaded within minutes. As you review an employee’s usage, you may choose to adjust the amount and frequency of loads to their eAccount

Because the Kalixa Card is pre-funded, your company liability is limited to the amount that you load into an employee’s eAccount. With a credit card you would be required to guarantee the maximum limit, even though you may never use the maximum. With a Kalixa Card, you can load the funds as and when they are required.

The funds loaded into an employee’s Kalixa eAccount are held by the card issuer, Vincento Payment Solutions Limited in a client-designated account with Barclays Bank Plc. Vincento is regulated by the FSA and as such, all loaded funds are ring-fenced which means, unlike a high street bank, Vincento is not allowed to use those funds for any other purpose. As required by the FSA, Vincento guarantees its financial liabilities relating to outstanding e-money and cardholder funds are backed at all times by low-risk liquid assets to 102% of the outstanding e-money value.

It is important that employees are aware of your company policy for their Kalixa Card, its appropriate usage and the consequences of misuse. The Company_Kalixa_Agreement document (.pdf) can be used for this purpose. Should an employee misuse the card, then a reconciliation can be made against their wages. If consistent misuse occurs, then the company can notify the employee of cessation of the scheme and reconcile the balance.

The funds in a Kalixa eAccount are protected the moment the cardholder informs us that their card is missing. It is therefore extremely important that the cardholder notifies us immediately via our 24 hour hotline: 0800 635 0086. We would also recommend that an employee notifies the company in writing, using the Lost or Stolen notice (.pdf).
